Tonight (17thJan08) Paul allowed members of the club to ask questions about how to perform certain tasks in Photoshop. One thing that will be a challenging subject for a while is using layers. These can be used as in tonight's demonstration, to hide, reveal, and replace aspects of an image. Tonight Paul showed how by selecting around a bird's head, the sky could be altered from a washed out white sky to a blue sky.
Being as the club meeting is in the evening, rarely do we get our cameras out whilst we are together. Tonight was an opportunity to have a look at each others personal choice of camera whether it be due to size, convenience or the size of our wallet!
Ken, Jack and Paul spoke about what the controls of a camera do and how they affect our images whereas a few other members spoke about their cameras and why they chose them. It became clear that different cameras can have very different uses and qualities, but as was pointed out by Jack it is what is in the photographer's head that matters, not so much the camera.
Some of the most clever photos can be so simple. It is all too easy to get caught up with the perfect light or camera setting when the impact of the image may be more to do with the idea behind the photo than the technical qualities of it. Think about that next time you take a photo.
