Digital tutorial
24thJan08. Back to basics tonight as Paul again touched on the subject of selecting. Photoshop is a complicated program and sometimes what seems like a simple task can be quite involved so it is always useful to refresh our memories. Paul also went on to explain how we can grab a number of images and move them about and manipulate them in a single document. This might be quite nice if you were making a greetings card of your own photos for example.

Recorded lecture
This week we got a chance to sit back and listen to a recorded lecture whilst watching the accompanying slide show. The subject; birds, flowers, macro photography and mammals. All by a single photographer from the PAGB. The photographer explained his strategies in capturing the images and told a few amusing anecdotes along the way. One of his lessons for us was to read the tide tables more carefully when photographing birds on the coast. I imagine that is a lesson quickly learnt when you make that sort of mistake.

There were also some delightful images of small furry animals and a few tiny birds. Not by any means easy subjects and in some cases a 500mm lens with 2x converter was required to get close enough. I'm sure the photographer had to take out another mortgage to afford that sort of length of lens!!!!

Next week...
An exciting night as we battle it out against Taunton with our best shots.
